INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — College basketball teams from the “Crossroads of America” figured prominently — or not — in the NCAA tournaments’ brackets of former President Barack Obama.
He posted them Wednesday night on Instragram.
In the men’s tournament, he put the No. 19, 4-seed Hoosiers in the Sweet 16 before the team loses to Houston. The former Democrat president wasn’t as hopeful for the No. 5, 1-seed Purdue, having the Boilermakers win their first-round game against Wednesday’s First Four winner, the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, but next losing to the Memphis Tigers.
In the women’s tournament, Obama predicts No. 3, 1-seed IU will reach the final two, losing to the No. 1, 1-seed South Carolina Gamecocks in the championship game. He also says No. 11 3-seed Notre Dame Irish will win its first two games before falling out of the tournament. For 11-seed Purdue, Obama also predicts a couple wins before leaving in the first round.
Obama played basketball at Honolulu’s Punahou School in the late 1970s.
